Bread on a whole food diet

How can you make wholegrain bread? Is Yeast Vegan? While yeasts and mushrooms are technically not really a plant or an animal given that they participate in the Fungi Kingdom, they often get swept up in to the “plant food” category and so are eaten by vegans and folks carrying out a plant-based diet.

If your definition of “plant-based” is comparable to mine “contains no animal products or products of animal origin and is minimally processed or a complete food” then several breads and bread cousins like buns or bagels will fit that definition. You can usually find at least one make of whole wheat or wholegrain bread at your neighborhood supermarket that has less than 10 ingredients.

What Bread is way better for You? That is a balancing act for me personally. Generally I search for the bread this is the most wholegrain with minimal amount of ingredients.

However, if a complete grain bread includes a large amount of sugar added or a whole lot of oil I would decide on a slightly more processed grain variety which has fewer ingredients and less sugars. I would also select a fresh sourdough that rose and underwent fermentation i. I favor the more natural procedure for wild fermentation and yeast.   4. Sourdough is healthy if only whole grains are used. Never eat anything containing cooked flax. Only eat flax raw within a few minutes of crushing or grinding.
    The A. L. A turns rancid within less than 2 hours.
    Rancid fats and oils are some of the worst carcinogens in our food. When it comes to grains i eat only organic to avoid all the chemicals.

  7. Personally my fave bread is the brand Canadian Bagel, while the bagels are made with refined flour their 7 grain bread with sunflower seeds is so good!

    • @terry tari ..its one of the best out there ..They are very passionate and have strict standards about what they do.It doesnt have preservatives and the junk,crap that other breads have, you have to freeze/refrigerate it otherwise it will go bad coz it doesnt have preservatives.
      I eat it personally and have recommended it to numerous people with health/diet complications and they have great results and testimonies.

      Anything processed in a factory, cannot be good.

    • Very misleading, whole wheat bread isnt exactly healthier cuz it has just as much carbs as white bread and can spike a diabetics blood sugar to unhealth lvls

  9. No bread is good for you.. You can make healthy bread but you can not buy it. All flour from grains is bad and been refined too much and sprayed with all kinds of poison that is bad for humans.

  13. The grain I wanted is the one that’s lost all it’s minerals through bad farming practices. After that grind it to a powder with no fiber. After that bleach it yumm bleach , add some aluminum salt , and sugar . Pay off the politicians. So we can give it to are children’s . So that they can grow up to be diabetic. Big pharma loves it to , and at the time of retirement all my retirement goes to the doctor, of course their gods but don’t have a clue. And it all started with the heart of man + greed = profits. Solution? Let us start with the soil return it to it’s natural form please.

  16. I make my own bread using whole wheat flour, whole wheat flakes, steel cut oats, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds.

      5 cups unbleached or whole grain flour
      1 cup rolled oats (soaked in water or milk until soft)
      1 cup coarse wheat bran
      ¼ cup chopped unsalted pumpkin seeds
      ¼ cup chopped unsalted sunflower seeds
      ¼ cup chia seeds
      ¼ cup flax seeds
      1 egg
      2 tablespoons butter
      1 ½ teaspoons salt
      3 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
      1 ½ tbsp. dark molasses
      2 teaspoons instant yeast OR 1 packet active dry yeast*
      1 ¼ cups milk
      1. Place milk, honey, molasses, salt and butter into small pan and heat on low until butter melts stirring occasionally so the salt is dissolved. Pour into large mixing bowl and let cool to about 110 degrees F. Add the yeast stirring gently and let it set for 10 to 15 minutes. Should get thick.
      2. While the liquid is cooling mix 3 cups of the flour and the wheat bran together and beat the egg.
      3. After the 15 minutes is up, mix the egg in the liquid mix and then add the soaked oatmeal. Mix well. Add the seeds and mix well. Then start adding the flour mix. You can do this by hand or use an electric mixer. Keep mixing until a nice ball is formed. The dough should be sticky but not gooey.
      4. Knead for 10 to 15 minutes. Let rise for 1 ½ hours.
      5. Preheat oven to 350 F.
      6. Knead the bread gently to deflate.
      7. Lightly oil all sides of a bread pan. Take the dough and shape it into a log and place it in the bread pan. Press the dough into the pan gently so it is spread evenly and into the corners.
      8. Let rise in the pan for about ½ hour. The top of the dough should be about1 ½ inches higher than the pan.
      9. Place in oven and bake for 35 minutes. Check with toothpick. Remove and let cool before removing from pan
      Yield: 1 loaf.

    • @christian blake you can get it at many grocery stores in the frozen section. But I get it fresh at Trader Joes market. It wont last long without freezing it within a few days though.

  32. What about so much sugar, chemicals and preservatives. Why we need to eat those?? Once you process any food, its dead even the sprouts are dead now. It will only give fiber but not the benefits of eating a living plant

  39. I think the best bread is one which, eaten alone is able to satisfy everybody. If not, nobody can say what it is the best if it is eaten together with the taste of another food.! The best bred is when is eaten on the very empty stomach ! The hunger appreciates the best bred.! Certenly I know that the white bred is the worse one.!

  43. I made my sourdough starter. Now I Bake Sourdough Bread and add in addition to Bread Flour, Whole Wheat Flour, ground pumpkin seeds, ground sunflower seeds, flax meal, whey protein powder. Bread is Healthy. Does not rise as high. Delicious.

  44. Why sprouted grains is 2nd best? And what about breads from sourdough of full grain rye or rye malt?
